- Educational Qualifications:
- Interested Candidates must have Graduate Degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university in India.
- The degree should not be obtained more than five years from the date of notification.
- Accepted degree patterns include 10+2+3+3, 10+2+5, and other similar structures recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
- Age Limit:
- Interested Candidates should not be 30 years of age as on 1st January or 1st July before the last date of application.
- Other Requirements:
- Candidates currently enrolled in postgraduate law studies (LLM) or any program requiring compulsory attendance are not eligible.
- Only degrees recognized by the Bar Council of India will be considered valid.
Responsibilities of the Research Law Assistant:
Research Law Assistants will be responsible for various duties, such as:
- Preparing brief summaries of newly admitted cases,
- Compiling synopses for regular hearing matters,
- Attending court sessions to document arguments,
- Conducting extensive legal research,
- Assisting judges with speech drafts and academic writing,
- Creating headnotes of judgments, and
- Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the Hon’ble Judges or supervising authorities.
Disqualification Criteria
Candidates may face disqualification under certain conditions, including:
- Suspension or removal from the roll of the Bar Council,,
- Prior incidents of professional misconduct, as judged by the Bar Council,
- Being barred from exams by the High Court or other recruitment authorities,
- Any criminal record or history of misconduct impacting the applicant’s professional suitability.
Salary
Selected candidates will get a monthly salary of ₹30,000.
Selection Process for Madras High Court Recruitment 2024
The selection process includes:
- Viva Voce (Oral Interview): Candidates will be invited to a viva voce at either the Principal Seat in Chennai or the Madurai Bench.
- Screening Test: If deemed necessary, a screening test may also be conducted.
Note: Candidates will not be provided travel or daily allowances for the viva voce or any screening test.
